Welcome to the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce of Oregon and SW Washington (APACC)!
We are a new organization that already has many things to be thankful for and excited about. First, we received, from Oregon Governor Theodore R. Kulongoski, a letter that acknowledges and recognizes our organization. Second, we have an Advisory Board with several distinguished Asian Pacific Americans whose wisdom and experience are invaluable. Finally, we have an energetic Board of Directors from various Asian Pacific American cultures and various industries.
Although formally organized during the early part of 2009, APACC has roots that date back to 2003. In 2003, Advisory Board member Verne Naito founded the Asian Business Club, which later was renamed as the Asian American Business Alliance (AABA). Around the same time, Advisory Board member Jaime Lim conceived of an Oregon Asian American chamber of commerce. APACC is the marriage of AABA and the vision for an Asian American chamber of commerce. We serve as a pro-business organization to cultivate and promote cultural and business relationships among Asian Pacific American chamber members, local businesses, non-profit organizations, government, media, and the general public.
We hope you will join us and become a member of our chamber. We will have monthly events and a monthly newsletter. Of course, we always are interested in how we can better serve you. So, please contact me or one of our board members if you have any comments or suggestions. Together, we can get through these tough economic times. We hope to see you at a future APACC event!
Sincerely,
Peter Sabido
President of APACC
